Ketamine and bladder damage

A large article on the growing health effects of ketamine abuse in Malaysia, including infographic.

By the time David*, 35, showed up at his urologist's office in need of bladder enlargement surgery, it had been two years since he first experienced problems urinating. Coincidentally, it was also three years since he started taking ketamine regularly at nightclubs after work.

The memories from last year are still fresh in his wife's mind. "At the time, his condition was really bad. He was constantly in pain, he could not eat, and he was not able to urinate, although he felt like going to the toilet all the time," Sally* explains. "He could barely function, let alone go to work."

David's symptoms were a result of a damaged and shrunken bladder -- a condition doctors are increasingly starting to notice in people who use ketamine regularly since reports first surfaced in Canada and Hong Kong in 2007.

I used K for a few years about once every month or two, and my bladder is working just fine today. (Excuse me, I have to pee again. j/k)

I don't know what dosages people are taking, but I needed a lot of time between sessions to let my mind and body rebalance. Daily use of anything recreational is really not a good idea.

I used to shoot pure ket from veterinary amps a few times a week, and I began to notice an irritating feeling in my kidney and bladder when I was coming down, like a tickling or a stretching feeling. Then after a while I noticed I was peeing more frequently. I also had the "feeling" that K crystals were running through my urine and irritating all the plumbing down there. Hearing about norketamine recrystalizing in the bladder makes sense now, that is definitely what it felt like for me. I quit many years ago and the bladder symptoms went away, but I always thought it was an unusual side effect.

Doesnt seem very plausible jamesK not that I am an expert, But the bladder problems due to heavy ketamine use is because of the metabolite norketamine recrystalizing in the bladder,(possibly also muscular dystrophy), I think it`s impossible to avoid if you snort a fiver of ket every day, It`s just that you "arent supposed to" snort a fiver of ket every day, I was nearly addicted to ketamine for a while and I see the alure, But please?!?!?! The addiciton is just mental, altough one of the more tricky ones, compared to weed, sugar etc, Anyone with a bit of common sense will figure this out, Binging on any dissasosciative will *fuck you up* Maybe not forever but for a long time, And also to the guy with the "natural is better" esque stereotypical hippie comment, Why don`t you go try eating some datura pods then, They are "natural" arent they?
It`s not "organic v.s. chemical" that matters by the way, everything is "CHEMICAL" the difference is "synthetic v.s. organic" chemistry, You have to look at the compound itself what it is chemicaly related to how it affects the brain to assess what "damage" it does, Speed is also natural(yes it has been found naturaly in the bark of a tree in texas, Acacia I belive!?!?!but someone feel free to look up the name I am far too tired), Speed is super neuroprotective and also healthy!

Might there be a method that involves introduction of the drug via catheter that is causing the whole problem?

@djhenru: can you or anyone else elaborate on the preparation of ketamine powder re: bladder damage vs. no bladder damage?
djhenru. : 2011-03-22 08:44:13
THERE ARE 2 WAYS TO PREPARE KETAMINE TO BE POWDER.
1 DAMAGES BLADDER.
FUCKING LAZY FUCKS

People just need to stick with the tried and true natural substances.
Loco. : 2011-03-21 19:40:55
Yeah street ketamine. Who knows what they mix it with. I think i read some article about same thing but in Japan, but again it's street K in powder form, not pure pharmaceutical amps
