Preview of UK's Sunrise Celebration

Sunrise Celebration 2011 - Festival of Organic Arts and Culture - is taking place between the 2-5 of June at Gilcombe Farm, Bruton, in Somerset, UK. This year’s music includes the amazing ambient psytrance outfit Shpongle (DJ set), The Beat, System 7, The Orb Soundsystem, Johnny Flynn and the Sussex Wit, Zub-Zub and Eat Static (DJ set). There are also talks from PsypressUK’s good friends Andy Roberts, author of Albion Dreaming; Dr. David Luke, general psychedelic legend and PsypressUK contributor, and Dr. Andy Letcher, author of Shroom.

Renowned for its unique family vibe, the Sunrise Celebration provides a buzzing blend of the best in festival culture, alongside new and exciting ideas never before seen in a field. Based on a lovely organic farm in Somerset, the festival features 8 arenas, 15 entertainment venues, 8 talks and workshop spaces and a lot more besides. To find out more information and to buy tickets please head over to the Sunrise Celebration website. And, if you’re still not convinced you should attend this amazing festival, I hope my review from last year can go some way to persuading you - world class event, trust...

"Also, the main thrust of the Celebration, is sustainability, the environment, off-grid living etc."

I would think, in that case, preference would be given to acoustic, off-grid, small music.

Personally, I would like to see that happen. While I admit that really amazing things have come out of the music made my a professional class, supported by industry, I think much is lost too when music is handed over to musicians, and taken out of the sphere of people.

It used to be that music was something that people created, in environments as diverse as Victorian England and indigenous tribal societies. Now it is largely something that is not created, but consumed. Again, there is some really amazing stuff that comes out of the way things are done today, but I think we'd be well suited to move a little more towards balance and away from stratification/specialization.

Isn't that, in a way, what sustainability is?

The most sustainable music of all requires no electricity :)

@Nowhere Girl there is a plethora of different music styles at the event; The Beat are Ska and Johnny Flynn is folk for example. Also, the main thrust of the Celebration, is sustainability, the environment, off-grid living etc. Follow the links to find out more detailed information!

Well, psytrance is not a type of music I would describe as "organic art". And generally - what about other musical tastes?
