Video: 'Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop'

Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop from Keiichi Matsuda

The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it.

Worth listening to on earphones.

Hopefully you could turn all that crap off whenever you want. Imagine the visualization programs you could have for when you're just walking down the street "listening" to music. The educational uses of this technology could be immeasurable, of course. But most people would just have a steady stream of really brainless diversions running at all times (just like how most use TV and internet).

This is a brilliant video. I especialy love the live-feed floating above the peaceful meadow. What's especially intriguing is the passive income generated by turning up the ads. Is this the pinnacle of capitalism? A fluctuating guaranteed minimum income by filling your in-between moments with floating ads? If this catches on, will it free the masses from their soon-redundant service jobs, fostering a wellspring of creativity? Thought provoking, to say the least.

I have that kettle, so Ill admit this pretty much happens to me on a good one, except even worse muzak, and no soft synth voice saying obvious stuff or ungly blue lines outlining stuff, and not as much asain VR culture unless I put on some coyboy bebop with maybe a hint of bladrunner on the side

Funny and smart. I like how the guy's (the viewer's) attention is so fragmented that he can't even remember how to make tea.
