Mushrooms to save the world

TED talk by Paul Stamets on six ways that mushrooms can save the world. This covers extraordinary uses, such as controlling insects, dealing with hazardous wastes, uses in medicine such as antibiotics, and more. Suggests that saving old growth forests should be a matter of national defense. Doesn't mention psychedelic effects, but come on, you know you want to watch it anyway.

I read dosenation and the shroomery :D

and i suppose mushrooms did find me in an interesting manner....

with regards to the psychoactive varieties, they certainly NOT for everyone. Yet i would not let this stop people from seeking the myriad other ways fungi can be used.

reading the comments about Terence McKenna it's obvious that there is a very small percentage of true mushroomheads reading Dosenation-I mean people didn't realize Paul wrote Mycelium Running. WTF? I imagine that most readers of this site drink, smoke tobacco, smoke weed, and have "done their share of acid and mushrooms" back in the day, and of course tons of exstacy, speed, and other pharmies. I think mushrooms might actually come up last on the list of most consumed substances. If you're really into mushrooms you're too busy looking at the shroomery to check out dosenation and read stories that usually have nothing to do with mushrooms.

and this is fine, but let's not encourage people who aren't motivated themselves. You know what I mean?
It's an awesome book, but apparently mushrooms aren't for everyone. If the mushrooms want you to grow them-they'll find you, they'll teach you, and you'll already be on that path.

"his book, "Mycelium Running: how mushrooms can save the world", is absolutely amazing. covers what he talks about in the video."

It also details methods of cloning mushroom fruiting bodies that would be, well, quite useful for a certain segment of this blog's readership.

well imagine a world with cars that run on gas made from hemp and mushrooms...

plan, plant, planet...

my saying is," humans, mushrooms, and plants-together we can save the world."
