Assisted suicide kit offered in UK

Amid the already emotional debate over assisted suicide, one of the world’s leading advocates for legalized suicide has an additional concern: that potential practitioners of suicide might not get an effective dose when they buy drugs to kill themselves.

So beginning this month, British residents will be the first to be able to order a kit designed by Dr. Philip Nitschke — an Australian who shares the nickname “Dr. Death” with American assisted-suicide advocate Dr. Jack Kevorkian — to test the potency of their on-hand supply of deadly drugs, usually the barbiturate pentobarbital. Nitschke, who founded the organization Exit International, says the kit will help people make “end-of-life choices,” and hopes that his new product will reduce anxiety for those contemplating suicide.

Note that the attached photo is of a commercially available version of pentobarbital for dogs only. Please use the handy testing kit to measure accurate doses for humans.

Thanks Cassie!

What do you mean by "low salt"? What would I have to buy?

Potassium chloride cause heart attack, which is painful. Something most people would probably like to avoid when committing suicide. Barbituates are supposedly best, though hard to get hold of (pentobarbitol is restricted and mainly used for animal euthenasia). Opiates in a large dose would probably also be less painful than potassium overdose. As far as gas goes, nitrogen-induced hypoxia suicide is apparently least risky and painless - or helium.

Sounds good to me. When can I buy one here in America? I'm taking bets it will be before 2013, what say you?

Make your own with "LoSalt". A concentrated potassium chloride solution will stop anyone's heart. :)
