Turns out the catholic church isn't ENTIRELY full of shit

A group of scientists has identified the mechanism of action of frankincense in the human brain. Turns out the enfolding veils of smoke of so many ritual activities actually has some effect, outside of just making you cough. Excellent.

Well, it's not =exactly= a mushroom. I don't think it's symbiotic on the plants it grows on, it's more parasitic.

Frankinscence, yes it does smell delicious - there's a ton of different varieties. (Church insence tends to be a mixture of varying resins and so forth)

So having gone from 'is modern science catching up with ancient knowledge?', we are now at 'is modern science catching up with aromatherapy?'

Of course, aromatherapy is ancient knowledge also.

What's next - 'is modern science catching up with ayruvedic cooking?'

'is modern science catching up with old wives tales?' - '....were surprised to discover that vinegar had properties at the molecular level that really did take stains out'.

I've been saying this for years. I got some frankincense incense and as soon as I smelled that shit I knew it was psychoactive. Good stuff! :)

Mike - I had the same "holyfuckingshit that can't be true" moment too, until I realized: ergot is a fungus

At least, I REALLY HOPE that's what he meant...

I love that it says "LSD comes from mushrooms".
Journalistic research at its finest!

Yay! Something new to ban! Joy!
