Pete Doherty goes to jail

You didn't think he could make a mockery of the British judicial system forever, did you?

Pete Doherty has been sentenced to 14 weeks in jail.

The Babyshambles frontman was sent down at West London Magistrates Court yesterday (08.04.08) after flouting terms of his suspended sentence, which included missing rehab.

The singer's lawyer Sean Curran said: "Pete obviously didn't want to go to prison but he was philosophical. He's not an angel. He accepts the order of the court. He'll be back."

Doherty, the ex-lover of supermodel Kate Moss, had been ordered to take regular drug tests as part of a four-month sentence, which had been suspended for two years, after he admitted possession of crack cocaine, heroin, ketamine and cannabis.

Well, it's only fourteen weeks. Doherty has had blackouts that lasted longer than that, I'm sure.

Don't cigarettes grow on trees already? No wait, the tobacco plant is more like a shrub, not a tree, but I guess that's not good enough for Pete. They need to drop off the tree fully-rolled, ready smoke? He'd probably set the tree on fire by accident...

Hmmmmmmmm.

""The Libertines, especially Pete Doherty and Carl Barât, use Arcadia as the destination their ship Albion is sailing towards. " It is thought of as a place without rules or authority, where cigarettes grow on trees""

You aren't James as-in James II, who hated smoking and tobacco?

Fair enough; I don't bother with celeb-news and all I know from the snippets I hear when I don't manage to change the channel / station in time, is that he takes drugs and is being legally bothered for it......so my immediate thoughts are - well they shouldn't be illegal anyway, then if he was being a total arse they can arrest him for that; the drugs are irrelevent.

Let him rot!!! He's giving the rest of us a bad name! What's his fame anyway? A famous fuckup.

Pete, Pete, Pete...:)

There's a difference between enjoying drugs and being a walking mess. Pete is essentially in jail for (repeatedly) being a public buffoon holding drugs and failing to show up somewhere at the proper time. Not all drug users fit this ludicrous stereotype.

You sure have a mighty strange attitude for someone who admits to being as-into drugs.
