DoseNation allows open comments

Can you believe it? We here at DoseNation have been going for almost a year now and everyone involved has been on super behavior! Since you have all played so nicely we have decided to open comments up for "guest" posting, so now you can post that smart-ass comment anonymously and without fear of retribution! To post a comment on an item, make sure you are on the permalink page of your article (not the homepage), scroll down to the bottom, and type!

Play nice please. No spamming and please don't write a book in the comments field. If you have something to say that's longer than a paragraph, create a user account and post your own article. It's easy!

Lazy people don't like captcha. This is for lazy people. If the spamming gets bad I'll go captcha, but for now it's wild west baby.

Are there any free "captcha" implementations? That seems like a pretty good security device...

I've added some safeguards to the code to keep spammers out. It may take a little bit to tweak it and make sure people are not abusing it. But beware, if you post spam your IP will be blocked from using comments!

Well, I guess I still prefer to log in... just more neat. ;) But it's convenient, I hope people (well... a certain kind of people) won't start using it for spamming.
There's a funny blog in Poland where the author critisizes bad taste - he takes photos of young women from a site where anyone can post photos, erases the eyes (so that they are theoretically unrecognizable) and makes vicious comments. (Yes, I like this blog - I think women who seem to believe that a bitch is a woman's greatest role model are doing very bad things for the image of women generally. And some of these girls want to look oh so sexy, others look just kitchy - artificial tan, lots of gold, white boots, pink, ugly furniture, club bathrooms or photos of the Pope in the background...) Anyway, the author is having problems with spammers (guests say these are just upset boyfriends of those girls ;)). Some just want to make it harder to read the comments, so they press Enter like 100 times...
I hope the DEA won't visit us to press Enter 100 times. ;)

thanks pal

And, um, I fixed the problem with the "guest" thing so people can enter an actual name now, instead of being "guest" all the time...
guest : 2008-02-07 20:21:33
This is great because I can never remember my damn user name and password
guest : 2008-02-07 19:13:49
Yeah, thanks for this...although you're just enabling my laziness now that I don't have to register.

I just.....love you guys.
This is the most educational, wonderful blog ever.
