What is this spider-web stuff?

I was reading over some notes of trip reports from years gone by and came across a passage that struck me as interesting:

What is this stringy, spider-webby stuff that comes off my fingertips when I'm starting to trip? Is it persperation, like cotton candy, spider-web on my fingers, lips, face...

And from twenty or so minutes later in the report:

That cobwebby stuff, when it evaporates it leaves a nice, soft powdery feeling.

Re-reading this passage years later I know exactly what I am talking about, yet still have no idea what it is. Any thoughts?

hmmmm. I never thought of that feeling actually coming off of my fingers.....i always assumed the hairs/webs/whateverthehell were on my face....interesting.
i have no idea what that sensation could be. i want to say energy just 'cause thats the cool psychonaut thing to say but who knows? i guess ill just keep tripping until i find the answer. (one of any infinite number of psychedelic quandaries I'll never know but will continue to search for answers to....)

yes, i know it too..i have spent what seemed like lengthy amounts of time on acid trying to wipe what felt like very fine, long hair from my lips. it seems so fine it isnt graspable, and so the process was repeated again and again until something else distracted me....

perhaps, like u write, it was coming from my fingertips all along! no wonder I couldnt wipe it off.

what is that stuff ??
