It usually doesn't happen THIS way

A heart warming tale of a boy and his first LSD bender. The unusual thing here is where it takes him. Funny, i think i had exactly the opposite reaction...

yeah, i thought it went well in sequence too. And just not something you read all that often, especially not in such a considered manner...

A nice story indeed. I must say that I sometimes find such explicitly religious stories a bit embarassing, as if it was something too intimate too tell - even though I would describe my standpoint as definitly pro-spiritual and pro-religious (I'm just getting sick of listening to people who think that if Poland doesn't respect the constitutional separation of Church and state, the only alternative is to call religion "the worst evil of mankind"). But on the other hand, if such stories weren't told, others simply wouldn't know about them.
A very good example that "spiritus flat ubi vult", that an alternative to orthodoxy can be sought not only in rejecting all religion, but also on just the opposite side - in a direct religious experience. The problem is always that it has never been really "accessible", even in case of a psychedelic "aid" the outcome depends on our "set" and generally our personality, something I call "internal history"... I tend towards an opinion that all a psychedelic does in this case is unblock us from what rational culture has imposed on us. For me rationalism is definitly a reduction - "patriarchy and rationalism are my favorite enemies" - but differing opinions should only be a stimulation for dialogue, we would still be sitting in the trees without communication!
So it's not a "lightweight" response to that serious discussion, at least not as much as the story of an "alcoholic nihilist" ;) - but still worth reading. Maybe it's a pity that Scotto hasn't found any new Jenkem posts - after reading such a piece I definitely don't think about anything spiritual, rather "why oh why do people have such disgusting ideas?" (of course, the idea that someone COULD use such a thing).

Perfect timing for this post! The case against the case against converting to Christianity on acid!
