Sigur Ros video

Here you go, get high and watch this, I proooooomise it's not freaky and certainly not depressing!

Seriously, though. Haven't you noticed that some media (music, video, visual art, whatever) seems to have that essential something that makes it psychedelic, and some don't, and it's not necessarily correlated with the fractals-and-bright-colors factor anymore? I wonder about that. What is it that make some things needle right into your brain, and even more so when it's turned on, whereas other things just get no juice whatsoever from the juice?

That's exactly what I'd expect someone who calls himself "squid leader" to say.

Very interesting comment, squid leader. Myself I have noticed several TV commercials and advertising posters which suggest that the product (usually something like sweets or chewing gum is advertised this way - maybe because chewing gum can look like a pill?... :)) is psychoactive. The most curious I remember was an ad for Solero ice cream some 10 years ago - a guy is treated to the ice cream and for a while he trips out, he's seeing some exotic landscapes, lovely swirling colours... then he "comes down" and the slogan appears. I have seen this ad in the Polish and the German version. The German slogan was: "Solero - erfrischt die Sinne" (refreshes the senses), the Polish one yet more psychedelic: "Solero - umysl wyzwolony" (liberated mind). I knew it wouldn't work, but still I rushed to try this ice cream... ;)) No, I didn't feel manipulated, just already at that time psychedelics were becoming my great theoretical intellectual fascination...

I can't believe you haven't figure that out. It's the 20-30 something computer animators that are just wanting to let the psychedelic experience filter into everyday conscious. Look at the itunes visualizer obviously someone is tripping very hard to come up with this stuff. The same way fractals were discovered:hardcore psychedelic experience coupled with mathematic insight and computer programming. It's just that we've entered the post-fractal age of psychedelic computer graphics. Just about every psychedelic lover has had the desire at one point or another to turn on the world. These guys have found one of the less intrusive means by which to do it. I think TV in the near future will be just as psychedelic as the experience itself. The other thing is advertizeing techniques utilized by the mililtary after they had come to understand the effects of LSD and subconscious suggestive thought implanting. The ARMY theme "be all you can be" was in reference to getting psychedelic. Look at the ads they have going now. Along with video games. Plus the fact that LSD is probably the most consumed drug by guys in the military for the simple fact that it's not tested for. The military is very psychedelic in it's approach to recruiting. Regular advertizing is based on the same thing. Like that Fruitopia ad with kaliedoscopes. These things are great in my opinion because the kids will have less of a hard time when having their first experiences. TV will have exposed them to so much psychedlia that they'll have a more familiar experience. Also check out ESPN and sports games too have become very psychedelic. The funny thing is no one is complaining. You think religious extremists would bitch about it. Unfortunately for them we all have a psychedelic world in our mind that wants to be stimulated, and these things like you say "stick a needle in your brain" that can't be ignored.
