In the latest development in the ongoing saga of Pete Doherty's rampant public self-destruction, the flamboyant drug-using rocker has turned to painting as a new vocation, creating a new series of paintings that are in part made from his own blood. It's already got people up in arms:
The troubled rocker’s artwork has angered anti-drug campaigners who have accused him of "glamorising" his heroin addiction.
A spokesman for drug rehab service Narconon said: "Families who have lost loved ones to heroin will be upset. It glamorises drug use."
Meanwhile, a spokesman for drug culture web site DoseNation said: "Ewwww." And people wonder why we don't do more celebrity coverage here. At any rate, Doherty is currently in hot water due to a photo that apparently shows him injecting a 21-year-old with an unknown substance (presumably heroin); his defense apparently centers on the notion that he was actually taking blood from the woman in order to make paintings. Good luck with that, Pete.
