I wish I could say that this is an atypical headline, but a bad batch of "ecstasy pills" killed one woman and made three others ill at a Sydney music festival ironically called "Good Vibrations."
The details are in the article, but an interesting point is made in the second half:
Professor Nick Crofts, from the Turning Point Alcohol and Drug Centre, said it was rare to overdose on ecstasy. (italics mine)
"It's extremely unlikely in the current circumstance, I would have thought you would have to take a lot," Prof Crofts said. "The majority of what manifests (on the street) as ecstasy is not ecstasy.
"The majority is ketamine or amphetamines with various things, like caffeine, that are thrown in.
"It could have been a mixture of anything."
Echoing a previous post on the dangers of unmarked "party pills"; always know what you are taking. And if they don't work
throw them away. Taking more to "see what happens" is never a good idea.
