Music Review: Edan - Beauty and The Beat

For those of you who don't know Edan, you must get to know him. A friend of mine passed me this CD about a year ago, and I still listen to it all the time. It is one of the best psychedelic, acid-rock, science-fiction, dub, hip-hop albums of all time. Seriously.

Utilizing loops from early '60s flower rock laced with dub effects, blunted beats, and the very best in pyrotechnic rap stylings from the likes of Mr Lif and Insight, Edan blazes a trail of doped acid-edged funk that transceds the dozens of genres it borrows from. Forget the "Grey Album", Edan is the real shiznit yo. Hard and straight up trippin'.

I understand why my friend sent me this distinctive album -- it is definitely my kind of music -- but why it would ever leave his collection is still a mystery. All I can say is maybe he hoped I would spread the word on the man named Edan. And now I have so now you know!
