From Post: DoseNation 23: Mysticism and Consciousness
You're too old and too psychedelicized to speak the way you do.

Your conclusions, presented as necessitarian "musts," are not sufficiently informed by either science or philosophy. You smuggle in a host of presuppositions and then present your philosophic doctrines as "facts," in a misleading no-cards-up-my-sleeve manner. There's plenty of disagreeable content. Your insistence on nothing-buttery is comical, if not for the outsized confidence you baste them in.

David Chalmers, who is likely better equipped than you in both neuroscience and philosophy, would contest much of what you claimed as "fact." That is just one thinker out of a legion more who disagree with you on fundamentals. Basic inquiry into neuroscientific research shows underlying disputes, even with the talking points you present. Heck, not even everyone agrees with Damasio for chrissakes.

I mean, does pointing out the anatomical portion of the brain that processes language, ipso facto, prove that heard voices are entirely unreal? That's entirely fallacious.

I certainly appreciate a more scientific approach to this topic, but you are the worst variant of reductionist (reductionism can be a valid worldview, but you have perverted it).

It treats everyone differently.. I smoke it every once in awhile and haven't had any bad side effects unless I smoked too much. My advise is plain and simple .. Stay away from it . It can be addictive for sure.. I know.. Peace

Thank you for this! It turns my stomach when I hear New Agies blather on about something so far beyond their comprehension.

If people knew the basis for US MJ prohibition they would know that the US law is based on the lies, fear based propaganda & greed of WR Hurst.

I strongly suggest people investigate the deception US cannabis prohibition is based on.

I did not explain quantum tunneling in the podcast, but that is another widely misunderstood effect. Maybe another day.

From Post: DoseNation 24: Quantum What?
@Quantum - Past measurements can be altered by future ones. You are being fooled with the title. The system is entangled by the measurements on both ends, and the system "randomizer" is based on the polarity of the photons. So it is not really random, because the polarity is set once the system is measured. If you don't get this I can explain in more detail, but it is not reverse-causality, it is a time-independent constraint of an entangled system with measurements on both ends. The math predicts this experiment, it is redundant, and it still does not break any FTL rules or pass any hidden information.

The Casmir effect does not use "nothing" to create energy, this is also a title written to "fool" you. Casmir effect takes advantage of virtual particle creation to create a very short-duration EM attraction. It is not weird, it confirms Feynman was given a Nobel Prize for QED for good reason. Again, overhyped title can make people think energy is created from "nothing" when in fact it is a well known jittering effect caused by electron-photon decay.

You can manipulate things that don’t exist - again, what? This section is about electrons and photons, which certainly do exist, even if they have been destroyed. And quantum tunneling is not weird, electrons do not exist in two places at once, they are just measured that way. The math is not the reality. This article is a prime example of how people who don't understand the math and the experiments say stupid and misleading things.

From Post: Do synthetic cannabinoids cause kidney damage?
@eli, the problem is that many times people don't know what they are smoking in these fake weed packets, and the formulas for any brand name can change. So, when someone who has been smoking fake weed presents to an MD with kidney failure for smoking "spice", it is impossible to tell what the compound responsible for the damage is. Also, none of these synth weed compounds have been tested in animals so we don't know which ones cause kidney damage, only that some of them probably do.

From Post: Do synthetic cannabinoids cause kidney damage?
Anyone else find it a bit odd how infrequently popular articles actually mention the name of the compound(s?) being spotlighted? Cannabinoids are a pretty structurally diverse bunch... one would think the dissemination of such information as 'xyz causes kidney failure' would be in the best interest of the public?

From Post: AA, Bill Wilson and LSD
I am at a cross roads.

I've been sober for nearly 8 years with the help of AA. I have been thinking about LSD for some time now. I know it has it's benefits, but I really cant work out that as an alcoholic is it dangerous for me to take a 'mind alterer' or will it possibly help me as suggested by various tests.

I took it about 20 years ago before my drinking was really bad, and I have to say it gave me big insights (although it wasn't that enjoyable in the setting I was in) and in hindsight I did have a spiritual experience.

I am a creative writer and it's how I earn my living, I really feel LSD/DMT or other psychedelics could be very beneficial for my work my spiritual life my step work etc... But I am very nervous about it in case it opens my view down the line that I can then try other drugs then before I know it have a drink and my like go down hill.

A part of me wants LSD to be my answer, my quick fix, maybe cure me of my addictions and I can drink again. This is the worrying thoughts

Any decent advice?

You really have to ask them over and over to make the shakes stronger as they are really weak. On the day after the full moon on a bender I was over the top of the guy in the bar pressuring him to put 20 mushrooms in one shake. About ten mins of arguing he agreed for a extra baht. Best spent money ever couldn't of asked for a better trip in my life. Was so beautiful being amongst the paradise. It really made the trip. Can't wait to do it all again soon. Joints are not the greatest but still get pretty stoned. They are like 60% tobacco but what can you do. So enjoy the trip and pressure them to put more mushrooms in for a better trip haha

Staying on haad rin tonight. Had 2 and a half shakes. One from kangaroo bar (next to mellow mountain) and 1.5 from mellow mountain. 500 baht each. Not a regular user of any drugs but ive dabbled in the past. Wasn't a great trip. Short lasting, no introspection, just felt really relaxed. Saw at least 3 groups of tourists walking away with happy shakes in hand. The MM drinks were stronger and tasted better.
