Germany bans Red Bull Cola for cocaine traces

German authorities have banned some retailers from selling the energy drink Red Bull ola, as the country considers a nationwide ban, after traces of cocaine were found in it.

A food safety institute in the German state of North-Rhine Westphalia found the drug during a test on Red Bull samples, the UK newspaper Daily Mail reported.

"The institute examined Red Bull cola in an elaborate chemical process and found traces of cocaine," Bernhard Kuehnle, head of the food safety department at the federal ministry for consumer protection said.

While the levels of the drug found do not pose a health threat, it is still illegal. The contamination would require the drink to be classified as a narcotic, not a foodstuff.

Red Bull argues the drink contains de-cocainized extract of coca leaf, which is used as natural flavoring in foods worldwide.

The company also claimed the coca leaf extract is considered safe in the EU and in the US.

Actually, I have been a majority stockholder in S-corporations and I did call the shots, as could be expected.

I have also done start-ups (C-corporations), and while I was an officer of the company, the investors definitely called the shots, not senior management.

And I currently sit on the Board of Trustees of a non-profit, and we call the shots.

So yes, various Boards have various management styles, some being very hand-off, and some being very hand-on. But I do have 10 years of experience with corporate governance (my current job is in compliance auditing for a publicly traded company), so, frankly, I do have some, oh, knowledge and experience to help inform my opinions.

And you?

"Well coca-cola is owned by the same people that keep smuggling coke into the USA, that is to say the CIA."

Do their stockholders know this? They may be under the mistaken impression that they own the company!

Well coca-cola is owned by the same people that keep smuggling coke into the USA, that is to say the CIA. Every time spies were deployed to a country in the height of the Cold War, it was usually through Coca-Cola or World Vision. In fact World Vision employed Mark David Chapman...

for years and years and years...

the popular sodas have cocaine or related substances in trace amounts.

They should check Coke-Cola because without a doubt it has trace amounts of cocaine.

Check Pepsi for a speed or pep pill derivative such as Ritalin.

I have been saying this for years.
Finally somebody did the test.
