Grade schoolers given anti-medical pot propaganda

A controversial anti-medical marijuana flyer forced upon elementary school students in Billings, Montana, is causing an uproar.

About 300 Newman Elementary School students went home with the propagandistic flyer Tuesday afternoon. The flyer asks people to "take action" against the medical marijuana business, reports KAJ18.

With the headline "Medical Marijuana Crisis," the bright-yellow flyers call marijuana a "gateway drug" and urge parents to "take back control" by contacting local officials, attending public meetings or volunteering time, reports the Billings Gazette.

"Our community and our children are at risk," the flyers read in capital letters.

The inaccurate and often alarmist information on the flyers is not credited to any source, and an email address listed at the bottom does not work.

This comes in the wake of the "Not in our town" firebombing a few weeks ago.

So what about the kids who didn't start their "drug experiences" with marijuana, but rather alcohol? MontanaYokal what do you say to the "drink a beer" now? Oh wait, you said kids? By kids I assume you mean under 21..you probably mean under 18 even.. in which case, you are promoting teens to drink beer. Great!

"Drink a beer but dont smoke dope"

That's the worst advise you could give anyone.

Shouldn't parents be concerned that rather than their children receiving an education in the subjects necessary to keep at pace with other countries.... they are taking up time with things such as this? It's crazy to think that they're this worried about ELEMENTARY students!! Whoever wrote the paper isn't even grammatically correct. Maybe it's time to focus on more actual schooling, and less propaganda.

P.S. If marijuana was actually accepted as a "gateway" drug after this many years of prohibition, don't you think they would have taken the quotations off by now?

This is bullshit. The voters voted this in. Where's the respect for laws?! Huh?
Another error (and I haven't even read the whole thing): "allowing almost anyone TOO grow..." How about some proofreading before we take you seriously.

That school is taking the initiative, good for them!

Medical Marijuana is the devils work! God, being the conservative that he is, would not put such an evil, corrupting, and addictive substance on this earth!

Plus, there are plenty of other good medicines out there the pains attributed with our earthly bodies. Our children need to know that if they are in pain, there are other ways to help that pain--like OxyContin.

Mmm mmm, good ol', wholesome Oxycontin.

I see at least one spelling/grammar error:

"here is our CURRANT situation"

sigh.
