Should mephedrone be legal?

Mephedrone isn't just another obscure research chemical. Everyone's at it, all the time. Despite the media scare stories, over 20% of mephedrone users polled on Drugs Forum take more than 10g each month, with just under half of those consuming over 20g. A lot of replies to that thread also reveal how quickly usage can escalate, meaning those results are probably on the conservative side. "More acceptable than weed", some have been saying. "Even my non-druggie friends are doing it!"

Mephedrone Cat knows when enough is enough, and so should you!

Yes, I actually kind of get that, but I think the rhetoric is slightly off and wrong (the point I was trying to drive home).

I think it's pretty clear from lack of results that such rhetoric really doesn't work too well. When you're trying to win someone over to your point of view, pointing out their hypocrisy is a bad strategy. Given the ink and electrons devoted to this strategy, if it worked the drug war would already be history.

So, what rhetoric works better? That's actually a complicated question.

If attitudes towards drugs were largely a rational decisions, then one would meet the challenge with reason. This is largely the strategy that is adopted by most established advocacy organizations. It is good work to do--facts do need to be presented, after all--but it leaves the table half empty.

Attitudes towards drugs are also an emotional issue, and this is where advocates fro drug-law reform are basically screwed, because those on the other side of the divide are much, much better at engaging the debate on that level.

I don't think daniel is seriously suggesting prohibition. More trying to raise consciousness about the massive hypocrisy that is the UK drug legislation. I always use rhetoric like that, but I'd hate to see them actually banned!

Of course you may know that and are trying to drive the point home. In which case, I agree! :^D

great product hope it stays legal forever the vat and tax paid by sellers is big bonus for the goverment alchol has killed 7000 people in past 12 months why not ban drinking smoking
