Fake marijuana under real fire

Just a few months after the public became aware of the legal sale of synthetic marijuana in Kansas, state lawmakers have a plan to snuff it out.

Rep. Rob Olson, an Olathe Republican, has legislation that would outlaw synthetic cannabinoids like K2, which are designed to mimic the chemical - but not legal - effects of marijuana.

"This is fast becoming the new drug of choice in the schools," Olson said.

Available for sale online and at a store in Lawrence, K2 comes in a small pouch for $15 to $30. It's a mix of dried herbs that look like oregano but is laced with chemicals designed to act on the brain like Mary Jane. There are other similar brands as well.

Johnson County police first discovered the drug was being used by ex-convicts on probation. They turned to K2 hoping it wouldn't show up on drug tests as marijuana. Now police say they're finding it in high schools.

Thanks h!

does anybody know if the newer versions of k2 that dont contain jwh 018 or 073 (like katch 22) show false positives or are currently being tested for

Hmmm. They don't care about the American public in the least. They started banning K2 and other herbal incense products long before they actually started research on any possible side effects they may have. Please don't be fooled into thinking they care about our well-being. If that were so, they would just tear down the corrupt FDA and take out Big Pharma as they are the biggest toxin pushers! Provided there are age restrictions, if someone wants some k2 herb, who are you to tell them that they can't have it? If someone wants to, they will buy k2 smoke whether it's legal or not as that is what happens with anything else that is unjustly and ridiculously prohibited. K2 incense will be no different. Plus, the formulas are constantly changing. [link] offers several products that are legal all over the world.

Of course there should be age restrictions on k2 incense, as with tobacco and alcohol, but these bans are just another knee-jerk reaction by our Government to control what we can and cannot do. They were passing emergency bans and proclaiming danger before they even knew anything at all about it. These guys, [link] claim to have k2 incense products that aren't restricted in any state by any current ban. So as you see, not only are these petty bans exhausting resources we don't have, they are pretty much useless! It's just going to continue to morph and the authorities are going to continue wasting time and money. People will still buy k2 incense. And so on and so on. Same old cycle.

It's nerve-wracking how some people are so ban happy. It should be crystal clear by now that prohibition just doesn't work. Well, for anyone but the black market drug peddlers, that is. They are having a field day with this k2 incense stuff. Apparently there is loads of counterfeit floating about already. This site even offers rewards for reporting it. [link] FDA regulation doesn't mean much to me as they are constantly approving toxins for human consumption. Go research some of the ingredients in your extremely processed "food".

you realize that your daughter didnt smoke k2 or whatever she was on something more or has never smoked or something weird cause what you describe is complete bullshit and you know it, dont believe every word that comes from your daughters mouth cause that sounds nothing like k2
from an experienced herbal smoker

I smoked K2 Space on Friday and had a terrible experience. I blacked out hallucinated had a seizure and puked and was choking on my own puke when blacked out. I felt paranoid afterward and am experienceing troubles with sleeping and sessions of paranoia and this is days after. The morning after i woke and cried for half the day i scared all my friends to the point where they never want to smoke it again DO NOT DO THIS. Im only 18 and was on the verge of death because of this.

My 17 year old child tried Space. Said she smoked "less than a fingernails" worth.
She ended up in the hospital after a bad LSD-like trip and passing out.
Luckily we were with her because when, unconcious, she threw up and almost choked on her own vomit.
If you think smoking it might be okay, why don't you just harvest some grass from your parents lawn, spray it with RAID and power it with Comet. Let it dry and smoke it! Ta-da, look I'm high! or Look, I'm dead.
Be careful out there!

well duh...of COURSE it's the drug of choice in schools. "K 2" is obviously the age limit by grade, right? but if it's being used by grade 3 or higher...well then we've got a real problem.
