A look at Oregon's first marijuana cafe

The Cannabis Cafe opened on Nov. 13 at 4:20 p.m., Oregon’s first marijuana cafe.

People must register with the Oregon Medical Marijuana Program with a doctor’s approval in order to receive a medical marijuana card, and they must also be members of the Oregon chapter of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, or NORML, to get into the cafe.

There is a $20 monthly fee and a $5 cover charge as well.

The cafe is located in a historical building, which used to be a speakeasy and a ballroom, in a neighborhood in northeast Portland on Dekum Street.

@arsenalfc, the final version of Psychedelic Information Theory should be online by the end of January. There will be an announcement on this website soon.

"Peace and Love"

Wow, that was unexpected! I didn't see a lot of peace and love up until that point.

I say good for them, but opening at "4:20" seems a little tacky to me. I mean, I love stoner culture as much as the next person (read that as you will), but I'd like to see the whole initiative move decidedly more mainstream.

Hi, Mr. Kent, I was wondering where I can find the entire Psychedelic Information theory.

SmOakland... they don't sell weed. You pay your monthly fee and smoke all you want. Definitely much less expensive than black market weed. They sell food and beverages.

what don't you like about NORML's agenda?
SmOakland. : 2010-01-06 17:17:45
Forget these people. This place is a scam because:
-they push a political agenda at you (NORML)
-they sell weed that is more expensive than black market weed
-they are additionally a rip off by charging you a bunch of bullshit fees
-they claimed to be the first cannabis cafe in America which they missed out on by 12+ years
-the place in the picture looks like a dump that I would not want to chill at.

Peace and Love
